The Mayfield Project is a regeneration concept of Mayfield in Manchester. The initial idea was to create a cultural space, which brings all the events in one place from all the hidden corners of Manchester. Multifunctional pavilions offer spaces for a wide range of activities. Considering the surroundings, the project is offering a landscape strategy in order to make biodiverse natural areas and green spaces that are relaxing for people visiting the Mayfield.
The concept is playing with the existing building of an old train station combining modern materials and solution which tie the whole site into one concept.
A programme of the complex consists of a radiostation locating on the ground floor. On the underground floor, there is a reception for visitors connected to a cafe. Moving forward guests get to the restaurant with both public tables and private logues. Closer to the entrance, the pied-a-terre is locating with 2 rooms for guests with different needs.
Overall, space is creating different experiences depending on the event happening in the pavilions. The timber strips are wrapped around the new and existing part to make it one connected complex and the white beams with tall columns are creating, sort of encloser of a cultural melting pot.
